Alessandro Safina 18th December in ICE Kraków!
The amazing and one-of-a-kind, Italian tenor Alessandro Safina will perform a unique concert exclusive to ICE Kraków on the 18th December! Alessandro single-handedly revolutionised opera, integrating traditional works with completely new music genres, such as pop and rock, recording top of the charts hits across the world. This unusually talented tenor will present his musical passions and his unusually romantic soul. His work is based on a wide-ranging collection of hits, which pull on the heart strings. Safin has performed with the biggest stars of the world, including: Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras, Elton John, Rod Stewart or Sarah Brightman. In Krakow, audiences will hear global hits, such as Luna, Incanto, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Memory, Le Temps Des Cathedrales, Canzone Per Te, Besame Mucho, Parla Piu Piano or Vincero.
In 1990, the tenor had his debut as Rudolfo in Giacomo Puccini’s La Boheme alongside Katia Ricciarelli. Following this event, he continued to perform in the largest cities and the most prestigious locations in the world. Although in love with classical music, especially music of the legendary tenor Enrico Caruso, he gets his inspiration also from contemporary pop music of bands such as U2, Genesis, Depeche Mode and The Clash. He single-handedly revolutionised opera by introducing completely new music genres, such as pop and rock, into classical works, and topping pop charts with hits across the world. In the 1990s, he became interested in the famous Italian pianist and composer Romano Musumarro. They decided to record together, starting with the song La Sete di Vivere, trying to realise Safin’s dream of creating a new musical genre of pop-opera. The final result was a debut album entitled: Alessandro Insieme a Te, released in 1999. The record is full of classical and soul sound – which Safin calls Rock-Opera. In anticipation of the premiere, the artist presented his new music style for the first time in the famous Olympia Theatre in Paris. Safin’s final breakthrough into pop music was in Holland in November 2000, when he appeared in the prestigious Night Of The Proms Festival. His single Luna topped the pop charts for 14 weeks. Two further remarkable concerts in 2001 in the Hague and Amsterdam took the handsome and charismatic tenor to new heights. His album Insieme a Te was released in over 30 countries and went gold in Brazil and Taiwan, and platinum in Holland in only a few months. 2001 was a very fruitful one for Safin. The artist contributed to Bazza Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge, performing Elton John’s Your Song together with Ewan McGregor. In September of that same year, he appeared on the stage of the El Greco amphitheatre in Taormina in Sicily. The Only You concert was later transmitted as part of the Great Performances series and was also released on DVD in February 2003.
In 2001, Safin was one of a few invited guests (alongside Elton John, Cher and Jennifer Lopez) to perform in front of Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary Royal Variety Performance. That night, he gave a masterful performance interpreting Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Music of the Night. Following this success, the tenor began his global concert tours.
Alessandro Safina will perform a unique concert exclusive to ICE Kraków on the 18th December 7 pm.
