Announcing the programme of Diana Damrau’s concert. The soprano will sing in Krakow on May 24th!

She has performed in the major venues of the world, has won many awards and made a number of recordings, she has appeared on the covers of the most prestigious magazines, and in her calendar, next to New York and Los Angeles, where she performs under the baton of Placido Domingo, is Krakow. The phenomenal Diana Damrau, accompanied by French bass-baritone Nicolas Testé and the outstanding Prague Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of the director of the Dallas Opera, Emmanuel Villaume, will perform at ICE Kraków on the 24th of May.

Diana Damrau is certainly one of the most sought-after sopranos of the world. At the same time, she is probably the best-known among… football fans. All because of Placido Domingo, who invited the artist to perform the iconic “We Are the Champions” with him at the stadium concert before the FIFA World Cup 2006.

However, the programme of the next event in the ICE Classic series will especially delight every opera lover and even the most demanding music aficionado. Diana Damrau will take the audience gathered at the ICE Kraków Congress centre on a journey through the most important and outstanding works under the “grand opera” label.

The artists will perform the most important arias and duets by key composers of the era, including Messenet, Wagner, Verdi and Bellini, and the most important author of the evening will be Giacomo Meyerbeer. This German was a true European, who lived most of his life in France, but also spent a long time in Italy. In his work, he skilfully combined elements characteristic of the influence of the German, Italian and French styles. His work was forgotten for a long time, but Diana Damrau has been fascinated with him since her student days.

On the 5th of May, the album Meyerbeer: Grand Opera (Opera Arias) will be released in Poland. The album is a dream come true for the soprano. The line-up of performers on the album is not much different from the one we will have the opportunity to admire in Krakow. The orchestra will also be led by Emmanuel Villaume, thanks to which the audience will be able to listen to the same pieces in a live interpretation. The artist accepted the invitation of the City of Krakow and the Krakow Festival Office because documents relating to Meyerbeer were stored in Krakow for several decades. The ICE Classic: Diana Damrau concert is an encounter with live music and history.

Tickets from 150 to 250 PLN are available at the network, alone with the sales points all around Poland (including Empik, MediaMarkt and Saturn), as well as the InfoKraków Tourist Information Points (pl. Wszystkich Świętych 2, Powiśle 11, Rynek Główny 1/3, Józefa 7, Szpitalna 25, św. Jana 2, Marii Konopnickiej 17).
