Back to the Garden – on the 3rd of September in Krakow

On the 3rd of September, a small part of the city will be transformed. Young people from the “Parkowa” Special Care and Education Centre (at ul. Parkowa 12) will get a new garden and recreational area. How? It's simple – for two days, representatives from the meetings industry (hoteliers, conference-organising companies, and representatives from conference centres) from Krakow will invest their time in charitable work for their fellow human beings. They will abandon their office desks and turn into gardeners and builders. As they say: the smile on young people's faces will be their best reward!

This is another campaign in the framework of the Back to the Garden series initiated in 2011 and inspired by IMEX Challenge Poland 2010. The first edition was held in 2011 in Warsaw and involved planting a garden for the Family Children's Home in Warszawa-Wesoła. Now, the time has come for Krakow.

The organisers, including the Poland Convention Bureau, the Krakow Festival Office (operator of the ICE Krakow Congress Centre), the Krakow Convention Bureau, and the PIM ART Landscape Architecture Studio, decided to offer their assistance to the "Parkowa" Special Care and Education Centre (ul. Parkowa 12) in Podgórze. The centre is a facility providing specialist care and education services for children and young people (from 10 years of age onwards) with behavioural problems related to adolescence, family conflicts, behavioural disorders, and other psychological problems of varying intensity.

The centre has a middle school, but no gym. The idea behind the Back to the Garden campaign was to provide them with access to sports infrastructure: to sponsor an outdoor gym, refresh the garden surrounding the centre and adapt it to young people's needs. The campaign managed to enlist the support of friendly companies and institutions, which made it possible to purchase outdoor gym equipment, and donated sports gear, as well as more than a hundred tree and bush seedlings, gardening tools, cleaning agents, and cinema tickets.

The rest is up to us. Let's meet on the 3rd of September! Together we will prove that good will and hard work can work miracles!
