CARMINA BURANA, CARL ORFF BEETHOVEN’S 9TH SYMPHONY

Carmina Burana is Carl Orff’s most famous work, dealing with frivolity, love, dance and hedonism, based on 24 medieval songs. This will be the first time ICE Kraków hosts the event, on the 10th of December 2015, at 7.00 PM.

The cantata, praising care-free life, standing in stark contrast to the medieval concepts of life and death, achieved great success during its premiere in 1937. Since then, Carmina Burana has entered the classical music canon and is very popular with both audiences and the artists themselves. The choir, the orchestra and the soloists take the audience into a magical world that awakens all senses, and ultimately reminding us of the dependence of human fate on the whims of Fortune.
