Dianne Reeves in ICE Kraków
Dianne Reeves is one of the most outstanding jazz vocalists. Her breath-taking virtuosity, improvisation and unique jazz and R&B flair brought her the Grammy Award for the best jazz vocal which she received three times in a row. The concert will be held on Saturday, the 14th of October 2017, at 8:00 pm.
The vocalist won the fourth Grammy Award for the best jazz vocalist out of five for the soundtrack to George Clooney’s Good Night, and Good Luck six times nominated by the Film Academy. She recorded and appeared with Wynton Marsalis and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. She performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Barenboim and was a soloist at concerts with Berliner Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattlee. She was the first Creative Director of the Chair of Jazz at the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the first vocalist ever perform at the famous Walt Disney Concert Hall. Reeves has worked with the legendary producer Arif Mardin (Norah Jones, Aretha Franklin) on the Grammy-awarded album A Little Moonlight. In his review of the album Christmas Time is Here Ben Ratliff of The New York Times wrote: “Ms. Reeves, a jazz singer of frequently astonishing skill, takes the assignment seriously; this is one of the best jazz Christmas CDs I've heard."
Recently Reeves has toured around the world, including under the programme ”Sing the Truth", a musical celebration of Nina Simone, in which also Liz Wright and Angelique Kido featured. She often performed at the White House, among other things at a dinner reception by President Obama door the President of China.
Reeves’ most recent album Beautiful Life won her the Grammy Award 2015 for the best vocal jazz album. The record was released by Terri Lyne Carrington, featuring also Gregory Porter, Robert Glasper, Lalah Hathaway and Esperanza Spalding. In January 2015 Reeves together with Paul Simon, James Taylor and Bobby McFerrin gave a concert in tribute to Michael Brecke in Jazz at Lincoln Center.
