Fiddler on the Roof musical
One of the most popular musicals in the history of music theatre in the interpretation of the Chorzów Teatr Rozrywki will be staged in the Auditorium Hall of the ICE Kraków Congress Centre on the 8th of October 2015.
After more than half a century from its premiere on Broadway, Fiddler on the Roof still enchants successive generations of spectators. The strengths of this show are thrilling music, whose particular pieces have been popular as independent hits for years, as well as wonderful collective scenes and choreography. Another great advantage of the musical is its inimitable humour. The play created by Jerry Bock, Joseph Stein and Sheldon Harnick became a huge hit around the world, won 9 Tony awards and an Oscar-winning film was made on its basis.
It is a wise, funny and moving story of a Jewish family from a small village Anatevka hidden deep in Imperial Russia. The head of the family is the milkman Tevye, who wants to marry off his daughters with the help of a matchmaker. However, they do not agree to his proposals – they want marriages based on love. Tevye must make a choice: to maintain tradition or to let his daughters be happy. However, the established order of the village collapses when the birth of Communism leads to a mass emigration of Jewish population from the area.
