ICE Classic Piotr Andraszewski in the ICE Kraków
Virtuoso’s precision, captivating charisma and seemingly effortless lightness of the execution. Piotr Anderszewski’s performances are regularly applauded by the audiences of such esteemed venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall or London’s Wigmore Hall. Soon – on the 29th of November, one of the greatest living pianists will perform in Krakow accompanied by sensational Sinfonietta Cracovia.
Anderszewski nicknamed ‘The Polish Sensation’ by the BBC Music Magazine is a truly extraordinary pianist, constantly enchanting his audiences not only with unmatched technical skills and stylistic elegance, but also with a unique stage personality. For many years Anderszewski’s expression and intriguing resserved charm have reminisced of the old cinematic stars’ glamour and make the pianist’s concerts sell at a glance wherever he appears throughout the world. His every performance is a unique event. ”I am extremely pleased that after many years of efforts we could invite Piotr Anderszewski to Krakow and that the artist of this class will perform together with Sinfonietta under the next round of the ”Stars with Sinfonietta” under the auspices of the ”ICE Classic” cycle, says Jurek Dybał, Director of the Krakow orchestra who launched the idea of the event.
”The ICE Classic series has been created with world-renowned stars in mind. Piotr Anderszewski has for years appeared with the best orchestras in the greatest music theatres and concert venues. The Auditorium Hall at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre is unquestionably one of such venues” – says Izabela Helbin, Director of the Krakow Festival Office, the operator of ICE Kraków.
The programme will include two piano concertos by great classics: Concerto in G-Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Concerto in D Major by Joseph Haydn, which Anderszewski will perform in a double role: as a pianist and as conductor leading the orchestra from the podium. The compositions will be preceded by two classical music rarities: the overture to Mozart’s opera Apollo et Hyacynthus and the overture to Haydn’s Armida, played by Sinfonietta Cracovia’s conducted by its concertmaster Macieja Lulka.
Were Piotr Anderszewski a great writer, not a great pianist, we might say that the November event is a truly “rare book” in the Krakow concert library: great classics, a world-renowned soloist and irreplaceable Sinfonietta Cracovia -- what more to expect? An evening full of unique musical emotions is ahead of us soon— at 7.30 pm on 29 November!
