ICE Krakow at the meetings of Honorary Ambassadors
Yesterday evening (Thursday, the 24th of November), Krakow Honorary Polish Congress Ambassadors met Mayor of the City of Krakow Jacek Majchrowski. The Ambassadors also saw a presentation of the newly developed ICE Krakow Congress Centre and Krakow Convention Bureau. The meeting coincided with publication of the Meetings & Events Industry Report in Poland 2011, in which Krakow ranks first in the number of events of economic, social, business and political events organised.
The Ambassadors constitute a prestigious circle of people promoting and popularising knowledge of the assets of our country among their international communities, thus contributing to Poland's choosing as a venue hosting international events.
14 Ambassadors were picked by the Chapter of the Polish Congress Ambassadors Programme chaired by: Prof. Janusz Lipkowski (President of the Warsaw Scientific Society). Edward Czerwiński (Collegium Medicum, Jagiellonian University), dr hab. Paweł Lula (Cracow University of Economics), prof. dr hab Marian Jaskuła (Chemistry Faculty of the Jagiellonian University), Professor of the University of Gdańsk dr hab. Beata Pastwa-Wojciechowska (University of Gdańsk), dr Piotr Kuropatwiński (University of Gdańsk), prof. dr hab. Mirosław Patalon (University of Gdańsk), dr Anna Kalinowska - Żeleźnik (University of Gdańsk), prof. dr hab. med. Jacek Antoni Pietrzyk (Collegium Medicum, Jagiellonian University), dr inż. Tomasz Schweitzer (Polish Committee for Standardization), prof. zw. dr hab. Piotr Wilczek (Warsaw University, Vistula University), prof. dr hab. Ludwik Czaja (Warsaw University, Vistula University) and dr nauk ekonomicznych Andrzej Byrt (Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie sp. z o.o.).
The Polish Congress Ambassadors Programme is organised by the Polish Tourist Organisation and the Conferences and Congresses in Poland Association. The programme promotes Poland as a venue hosting international conferences and congresses and aims to attract congresses to Poland, as well as provide effective assistance in attracting such events to our country via Poles acting in international organisations, such as scientists and professionals in various sectors. The title of Honorary Ambassador has been granted to almost 100 people so far, and a number of eminent personalities have contributed to the works of the Chapter.
