ICE Kraków Congress Centre: Inauguration. Ticket sale has started!
Only a little more time than a month and a half remains before the opening of the ICE Kraków Congress Centre. Today, on the 1st of September, tickets go on sale for the concert 2014. Here and Now, the first event to be held at Krakow’s Congress Centre. But the opening is not only the concert – the inauguration of the ICE Kraków lasts four days!
- The opening of such a top class facility deserves a special setting. The ICE Kraków Congress Centre will be one of the most prestigious conference centres in this part of Europe. It is no wonder then that its inauguration must be equally unique - says Izabela Helbin, Director of the Krakow Festival Office, the operator of ICE Kraków. Two concerts, on the 16th and 17th of October, and Open Days on the 18th and 19th of October will be an opportunity for Krakow residents and invited guests from Poland and all over Europe to get to know the centre and find out what it has to offer. So I am already inviting you to the ICE Kraków inauguration, which will certainly be a very special event for the business tourism industry – adds Director Izabela Helbin.
ICE Kraków Congress Centre’s inaugural event - the concert 2014. Here and Now - takes place on the 16th of October. The main message of the work created by Zbigniew Preisner, one of Poland’s most outstanding composers, especially for the occasion, is the place of human beings in history, modern civilisation and existential transience. Both the music, and the libretto written by Ewa Lipska, refer to Krakow’s past social and cultural atmosphere which will be recalled during the concert in an unconventional and original manner.
This work of music will be performed in the Auditorium Hall, the largest room at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre. For the first time in Poland, the newest forms of technology have been installed to make the venue one of Poland’s best concert halls (sound reflectors installed above the stage, movable screens reflecting sound that are able to regulate the time of after-sounds; seats with the highest acoustic, ergonomic and durability specifications). Thinks to its design and technologies applied, the hall can accommodate cultural events, conferences and congresses up to 2,000 people in the audience.
The first concert, to be held on the 16th of October, 2014, will be a closed event for invited guests from Poland and abroad. On the next day (the 17th of October) the concert will be repeated specially for residents of Krakow, who will also benefit from the newly created ICE Kraków Congress Centre. Tickets for the show are on sale from the 1st of September in four InfoKrakow City Information Points (the Cloth Hall, Market Square; Wyspiański Pavilion - 2 Wszystkich Świętych Square; Tourist Services Centres 11 Powiśle Street; 2 św. Jana Street) and via eventim.pl at a cost of 50 zlotys.
Open Days will be next on the agenda of the ICE Kraków Congress Centre’s inauguration celebrations. Krakow’s residents are invited to visit the Congress Centre and to see the places which are usually closed to the public. The visitors will see: some selected rooms, dressing rooms, the control room, simultaneous translators’ booths, the glazed foyer offering a view of Wawel Castle and other places.
On Saturday, 18th October, there will be also a special event: a talk by the designers of the ICE Kraków Congress Centre – architects Krzysztof Ingarden and Jacek Ewý. They will talk about their idea of the building and the architectural solutions they used. On the next day, Sunday, 19th October, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a meeting with Jan Mela, a traveller and the President of the Nowe Horyzonty Foundation. The meeting will be co-organised by the Instytut Doradztwa i Zarządzania Sp. z o.o. and the Krakow Festival Office. Passes for Open Days will be widely distributed from 7th October at 10:00 am, at InfoKrakow City Information Points (the Cloth Hall, Market Square; Wyspiański Pavilion - 2 Wszystkich Świętych Square; Tourist Services Centres 11 Powiśle Street; 2 św. Jana Street). A detailed programme of the tour, hours of entry to the Centre and detailed information about special attractions will be announced in the second half of September.
We want the ICE Kraków Congress Centre to a place thriving with life almost all year round. Such a great investment project and an excellent building in term of its functionality and visual quality deserves to be used a lot and for a lot to happen in it.
