ICE Kraków draws like a magnet
Three weeks after the grand inauguration of ICE Kraków, the brand new business flagship venue will also host unique artistic projects – concerts, ballet performances, theatrical shows and attractions for the youngest audience. The concerts by the world-renowned pianist from South Korea, an excellent ballet from Moscow, the concerts of adored Gregorian Choir, Sinfonietta Cracovia and Capella Cracoviensis are but a few events to be held at the newly opened Congress Centre. In the autumn, ICE Kraków will host two stars from Asia: the acclaimed pianist, composer and unmatched musical talent Yiruma and the world-renowned drummers from the Yamato group. The concert of the South Korean pianist, for the first time in Poland, will take place on 16 November, at 6.00 pm. Four days later (on 20 November), the unique original sounds of the Far East will rule on stage at the Congress Centre. The performance of Yamato , acclaimed for their shows, is a great dose of positive energy – be in the Centre at 7.00 pm sharp!
Also in November, classical music lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy outstanding music arrangements. On Monday (10 November) from 1.00 am to 3.00 pm all music enthusiasts are invited to the open sound rehearsal of the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Krakow, under Professor Rafał Jacek Delekta PhD. On Saturday (23 November), a grand anniversary gala, on the 20th birthday of Sinfonietta Cracovia, the first concert in Krakow will be given under the baton of its new director Jurek Dybała – an acclaimed conductor and animator of musical life, a member of the famous Vienna Philharmonics. Xavier de Maistre, one of the most outstanding harpists of our time, will grace the concert with his presence, for the first time In Krakow.
In December, the Moscow City Ballet will take the audience into the world full of positive energy, fairy tale and beauty. On the 5th and the 6th, the audience gathered in the ICE Kraków will have the opportunity to admire the ballet masters from Moscow in two most famous and popular ballets: The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Over the last couple of years, this phenomenal group has been watched by 150,000 spectators in Poland alone. The ballet presents a classical dance technique by the most talented, graceful dancers who have reached true perfection throughout the years of heavy training. The audience leaves the theatres after the Moscow City Ballet’s performances with flushed cheeks, enchanted by the huge talent and professionalism of dancers and the performance’s magical atmosphere.
After the great success of Verdi Gala concerts in September 2013, the stars of European stages: Silvia Rampazzo, Giulio Boschetti, Razvan Sararu and Aksana Yakushevich along with the Polish Opera Choir and the fantastic Roncole Verdi Orchestra will perform again for the Polish audience. Verdi Gala is a boldly staged musical performance , a medley of world-renowned opera excerpts, including: La Traviata, Rigoletto, Aida, Nabucco and Il Trovatore. The project has brought together artists to whom the music of Giuseppe Verdi is particularly close – with the leading Italian soloists: Silvia Rampazzo and Giulio Boschetti. The soloists, the choir and the orchestra form an ensemble of ninety musicians under the musical direction of Maestro Marek Tracz. Your are invited to the opera performance on Sunday (7 December) at 5:00 pm.
The Congress Centre will not spare attractions for the youngest audience: on 13 and 14 December we will take the youngest spectators on a special journey along with the characters from their well-known and loved fairy tales: Snow White and Beauty and the Beast. The journey will be unique because the stories will be shown on ice! A fantastic stage design, artistic chorography, breath-taking evolutions in the air performed by figure sliding champions, dazzling costumes and props will make the youngest audience to love the popular stories anew. Thanks to the beautiful music by Silvio Amato, the show may be counted among the best interpretations of those charming stories.
The promotion of classical Viennese music is the mission of the Vienna Mozart Orchestra, which is sure to enchant the Krakow audience on 18 December. The orchestra presenting an array of works by the greatest child prodigy of the classicist era – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – is the pride of the Austrian capital. Thirty talented and experienced musicians, world-renowned opera stars and instrumentalists, present Mozart’s works at the finest concert halls. Thanks to their brand mark - period costumes and wigs -- the audience is transferred to the eighteenth-century Habsburg’s cultural empire.
In December, Gregorian Choir adored by the Polish audience will come back to Poland. During their last visits to Warsaw, Gdynia and Poznań, the audience halls burst at the seams, and there was no end to encores. This year ,under its Winter Chants Tour 2014, the ensemble will host in Krakow on Friday (19 December). Its new programme is more in a chamber music, reflexive mood, an ideal choice for frosty winter evenings.
Right before Christmas, on 1 December, Capella Cracoviensis will present one of the most important works in the history of music, Handel’s Messiah. The orchestra will perform with an outstanding group of soloists under the baton of Jan Tomasz Adamus. Messiah is without doubt a timeless work, which has become a part of Europe’s cultural code.
This year’s series of cultural events at ICE Kraków will end with the Vienna New Year’s Eve Gala 2014. The evening’s grand concert will gather the unquestionable star of the Polish operetta stage, perfect in every gesture, captivating the hearts of audience all over the world – Grażyna Brodzińska. The diva will be accompanied by guest starring Wojciech Sokolnicki – tenor, a soloist at the Wielki Theatre in Poznań, the winner of the 15th Jubilee Grand Tournament in Szczecin, and Miłosz Gałaj – baritone, the soloist at Opera Bałtycka and Warsaw Chamber Opera. The artists will be accompanied by the Krakow Young Philharmonic Orchestra consisting of forty instrumentalists under the baton of Tomasz Chmiel and the ballroom dance champions of the Prima Dance Centre after the concert – a grand ball and a party till the crack of dawn in the swinging mood.Malwina Kusior and Rafał Szatan— young, talented jazz-pop vocalists will ensure, CREO band and Afrojockers group will ensure live music.
