ICE Kraków once more the best congress centre in New Europe!
The Meetings Star Award is an award for congress facilities which provide comprehensive services and reach major achievements in the meetings industry and promotion of events in Central and Eastern Europe. For the second year in a row ICE Kraków received the highest score, as the best congress centre of New Europe! It’s a sensational achievement. No other facility has won two awards two years in succession.
In 2016, ICE Kraków Congress Centre established its strong position on the market of conference and congress centres in the region – we read in the justification of the verdict. Its abundant programme of congresses and concerts confirms that the facility has a leading position in periodical (e.g. annual) events. The excellent model of the centre management allowed it to achieve great success in a short period – over 180 events in 2016, attracting 250 000 guests. These numbers speak for themselves. ICE Kraków harmoniously cooperates with the city of Krakow, providing amazing innovations – this is why ICE Kraków reached the top of the ranking!
The idea of the competition MEETINGS STAR AWARD is based on the presence of "hidden congress guests" at various events. This group of specialists who have at least 15 years of experience in the meetings industry and a wide expertise in the organisation of events, up to the standards set by international associations: (DIN – Deutsche Industrie Norm, ICCA – International Congress and Convention Association, IAPCO – International Association of Professional Congress Organisers, APEX – Accepted Practice Exchange, AIPC – International Association of Congress Centres, and MPI – Meetings Professionals International). ICE Kraków is a member of three such organisations: ICCA, AIPC and MPI.
Hidden congress guests evaluate the events during unexpected visits to congress facilities. They follow the process of the production of events, the work of project teams and mechanisms of delivery. Then they fill in comprehensive questionnaires, including their observations, photos and videos. This model of evaluation keeps the assessment impartial. ICE Kraków received the score 4.90 out of maximum 5, beating competitors from Vienna, Katowice, Salzburg, Ljubljana, Istanbul and Graz which were ranked among the top ten.
It is a truly sensational achievement in the meetings industry – the award for the same facility two years in a row – says Izabela Helbin, Director of the Krakow Festival Office, the operator of ICE Kraków. We develop intensively, invest into professional development of our staff and create innovative marketing strategies. We have developed the world’s first folder of a congress centre on Instagram, and a new spot of ICE Kraków, representing our whole ecosystem. We can see that our strategy pays. It is an honour for our team and generally for Krakow which can be proud of it. Proud of the facility that is recognisable and appreciated in Europe! – adds Director Helbin.
The competition is organised by ”KONGRES” magazine –a leading periodical of the meetings industry in so-called New Europe, with its seat in Slovenia. It reaches 53 000 specialists (printed edition: 5000 copies, digital edition: 38 000, circulation: chiefly in Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany Great Britain and Slovenia). For years the magazine has helped to build a strong position of Central and Eastern Europe on the map of the global meetings industry, as a member of IMRN - International Meetings Review.
