National Georgian Ballet

The SukhishvilI Georgian National Ballet consists of 500 dancers and has its own orchestra. In its history the ensemble has been on over 250 tours, 11 times visited all the 5 continents, 88 countries, and has given 12,300 performances for the audience of over 7 millions. In January 2015 they will dance in Krakow.

It’s a unique dance show – 100 dancers and the orchestra on stage. A national treasure – the precious jewel – his is how it is called around the globe. The ballet performance was acclaimed as the best show on Broadway, and in Australia even mentioned as the eighth wonder of the world! In La Scala, one of the most famous world stages, the curtain went up 14 times, breaking Caruso’s record (11 times). 

The Sukhishvili National Georgian Ballet was founded in1945, being the first professional ballet ensemble in Georgia. Three generations of the Sukhishvili dynasty have managed the ensemble for over 70 years. Thanks to the Sukhishvili dynasty, the national dance art in Georgia began to develop actively and has gained international renown.
