NEW YEAR’S EVE CONCERTS AT ICE KRAKÓW
Two concerts, two orchestras, two programmes! During the last night of 2015, the interiors of ICE Kraków will be filled with classical music. The visitors to the Congress Centre will be able to choose one of two concerts: a New Year’s Eve Gala “From Vienna to New York” by Beethoven Academy Orchestra in the Auditorium Hall, or the New Year’s Eve Concert by the “Obligato” Strauss Orchestra conducted by Jerzy Sobeńko in the Theatre Hall. Let us start this new year with the sound of classical music ringing in our ears.
“This year, two New Year’s Eve concerts will be organised in the ICE Kraków Congress Centre. First of them will take place in the Theatre Hall, and will consist of the famous opera pieces and pop songs in classical arrangements. The Auditorium Hall will be filled with arias and duets, performed by the soloists of the Wiener Staatsoper and exceptional Polish singers”, said Izabela Helbin, director of the Krakow Festival Office (operator of ICE Kraków). “I am happy that the orchestras which often visit the Congress Centre, will come and play in Krakow during the last night of the year. I wish you a great experience”, director Helbin added.
The Beethoven Academy Orchestra would like to invite for the first New Year’s Eve Concert, opening the annual New Year’s Eve Gala series in this place. The most exceptional soloists of Wiener Staatsoper and Polish Musical Theatre will present the most interesting arias and duets from the repertoire of the Viennese, Italian and German masters, and from the musicals by Bernstein and Gershwin.
The German conductor Christian Schumann, the favourite of the Krakow audiences, already known for his interesting creations during the Film Music Festival in Krakow will conduct the orchestra during the effective concert overtures. Leszek Mikos – an expert and a lover of the opera and operetta, laureate of the 2014 Master of Polish Speech award - will be the narrator of the evening, who will lead the audience through the mysteries of the vocal art history.
