The famous tenor and conductor José Cura, along the only Polish pianist who qualified to the finals of the 17th International Chopin Pianist Competition, and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra would like to invite you to the final concert in the “More Polish Music...” series.
The presentation of the most valuable, but often forgotten pieces of Polish symphonic music, juxtaposed with the masterpieces of European music is the main idea behind the “More Polish Music...” programme, the goal of which is preservation of Polish cultural heritage as a determinant of national identity development.
We will soon see the final concert of the 6th edition of the cycle, and the stars of this event will be Szymon Nehring, a finalist of the 17th International Chopin Pianist Competition in Warsaw and the Argentinean tenor and conductor José Cura, famous for his expressive presentations of opera heroes (especially Othello), but also very successful as a conductor, who was delighted by the performance by Beethoven Academy Orchestra, full of passion and commitment. The conductor met the Orchestra for the first time in May this year, and they together performed the monumental 2nd Symphony in C-minor “Resurrection” by Gustav Mahler during the opening concert of the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Festival and Competition.
The artist, fascinated by great cooperation with Beethoven Academy Orchestra, decided to meet with them again. This time, they will perform the masterpieces of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Mieczysław Karłowicz and Mieczysław Weinberg, who is still mostly unknown in Europe and worldwide. The programme features Mieczysław Weinberg’s Rhapsody on Moldavian Themes and Mieczysław Karłowicz’s Symphony in E minor “Rebirth”. We will also hear Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor.
