On the 26th of October, Krakow will become the arena for an incredible artistic event. At the Auditorium Hall of ICE Kraków, in addition to Sinfonietta Cracovia, under the baton of Jurek Dybał, a world-class star will also take the stage: the Hungarian “king of the trumpet” – Gábor Boldoczki. This is another edition of the Stars with Sinfonietta cycle.

The brilliant virtuoso, winner of the ARD competition in Munich and the winner of the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris at the International Maurice André Competition, will present two pieces in Krakow.

The first will be Prof. Krzysztof Penderecki’s Trumpet Concerto, which the composer dedicated to Boldoczki, and which Polish music lovers have been waiting to hear. It is worth noting that Sinfonietta Cracovia, along with Musikverein Graz and Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Saarbrücken, was one of the partners commissioning the piece, and it was to this ensemble that Maestro Penderecki entrusted the Polish premiere. The first performance comes on the 25th of October in Zabrze, at the Level 320 International Krzysztof Penderecki Festival – as part of a series of world premieres, and then a day later at ICE Kraków.

The second piece will be the Trumpet Concerto by a renowned artist of Turkish descent, one of the greatest contemporary composers, Fazil Say.

An expanded percussion part, odd meters, a melody full of Arabian motifs, combined with the lively temperament of the Hungarian soloist will transport the audience into the fascinating world of the Orient.

For dessert, the Krakow orchestra has prepared two compositions by Maurice Ravel: the incredibly colourful Le tombeau de Couperin suite, in a style that recalls the French era of the 18th century, and for the finale, the cult Bolero with the mantra solo of the drum, raising tension to the last chord of the piece.

The Sinfonietta Cracovia orchestra is preparing an exceptional event, as usual, and warmly invites everyone to join them. Gábor Boldoczki, Krzysztof Penderecki, Maurice Ravel, Fazil Say – these are artists who guarantee a musical experience of the highest calibre.
