The Fiddler on the Roof once again in ICE Kraków
One of the most famous musicals worldwide will be heard in ICE Kraków once again, on the 8th of March. The Fiddler on the Roof will be performed by the Chorzów Teatr Rozrywki, which is one of the best musical theatres in Poland.
The Fiddler on the Roof has become a legendary piece of the contemporary musical theatre. After its premiere in 1964 and the subsequent success on Broadway, the musical could be heard on stages all over the world. The piece, written by Joseph Stein and Jerry Bock is an adaptation of a book by Sholem Aleichem, telling the story of a Jewish family forced to abandon their home village of Anatevka, somewhere in tsarist Russia. Their traditional norms and standards were now questioned, and the tradition, which guided the family life became irrelevant. Tevye, who lived with his wife and five daughters in Anatevka, is a poor milkman, who is able to face all the hardships in life and withstand the vicissitudes of fate with serenity, thanks to his faith, hope and prayer. But even he has to choose between the respect for tradition and the happiness of his children. He does this with his natural calmness, faith in God and balance of the world.
