THE NEW YEAR WITH CANADIAN BRASS AND PUEALLE ORANTES
The choir PUELLAE ORANTES, along with CANADIAN BASS, has prepared a fantastic spectacle that will take place at ICE Kraków on the 16th of January. Spontaneity, virtuosity and above all a love for playing music characterise the unique style of this project.
The concert will be phenomenal and elemental. In the first part, the quintet will perform a varied repertoire, from classical music to amusing arrangements of known stage works, to jazz standards and pop music. Canadian Brass will perform, among others, Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee”, Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in d minor” and Vivaldi’s “Spring” from The Four Seasons.
In the second part of the concert, both ensembles will perform a repertoire specially arranged for the occasion by Warsaw composer Łukasz Farcinkiewicz. Among the pieces played will be a mix of Polish carols and pastorals, as well as arrangements of such hits as “White Christmas” or “Christmas Time”. Both ensembles have prepared special musical surprises for an encore.
The Canadian Brass ensemble was established in 1970 in Toronto. Their diverse repertoire consists both of “brass” standards, as well as a wide range of original arrangements, created especially for them. The ensemble has over 130 albums to their name. Their total sales have reached 2 million records. They were the first brass ensemble to perform in both the People’s Republic of China and Carnegie Hall. They have been invited by the government of Canada many times to play for visiting heads of other countries. They are true musical ambassadors of Canada.
