The SYMPHONIC QUEEN project accompanied by the great orchestra returns to ICE Krakow!

The SYMPHONIC QUEEN project will return to Krakow on 19th November 2017! Less than a year following the sold-out concert celebrating the fifth anniversary of the project, Symphonic Queen will be performed again in the ICE Congress Centre. This time the full orchestra will be accompanied by the Hollylodz Film Orchestra. The audience will have the opportunity to listen to more than sixty artists performing Queen’s best songs during a two-part concert. The concert will take place in the ICE Krakow Congress Centre, 17 Marii Konopnickiej Street, starting at 7 pm.

The extraordinary concerts linking QUEEN’S eternal music with symphonic arrangements performed by the Alla Vienna Orchestra and Vivid Singers Choir have been enchanting fans of the legendary rock band for five years now. SYMPHONIC QUEEN is a unique phenomenon –initially planned as a one-off show, it transformed into a great concert tour with performances in Poland’s largest concert halls. Nearly 70 000 spectators have participated in more than a hundred concerts which have been staged to date. All performances have played to full audiences of Queen fans.

The Symphonic Queen project is a two-hour, two-part performance, which includes Queen’s greatest hits. The concert finale is made special by a solo performance – of a singing actor impersonating Freddy Mercury. The orchestra will perform a new programme which will include such hits as Bicycle Race, Another One Bites The Dust, Under Pressure originally performed by Queen and David Bowie and the exceptional Barcelona, which was recorded by Freddie Mercury together with the Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballe.  A solo guitarist Piotr Wieczorek will be the guest star in the second part of the concert.

The Symphonic Queen project has been extremely successful over the past three years – most of the concerts organised in 2015 and 2016 were sold-out entirely. The ensemble often performed twice in the same concert venue in front of a full audience – as for example happened in the concert halls of the Silesian, Szczecin, Wrocław and Baltic Philharmonics and in the concert hall of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. To date more than 70 000 spectators have participated in the nearly hundred concerts staged so far.

In December 2016, an enlarged ensemble performed in the Atlas Arena in Łódź with guest stars Michał Szpak and Joanna Woś.

Symphonic Queen as performed by the Alla Vienna Orchestra, Vivid Singers Choir and a singing actor impersonating Freddie Mercury is a unique cross-genre project, merging symphonic elements of Queen's music with the rock potential of a salon orchestra and a majestic choir of 20 singers. Following the fantastic reaction at the premiere performance staged in Wytwórnia Club in Łódź on 30th November 2011, the artists decided to continue this adventure in 2012 and to remind audiences in other Polish cities about the genius of Queen.

The initial classical part of the concert presents Queen's diverse style through a selected repertoire from the band’s rich discography  - beginning with Queen’s first records recorded in the 1970s up to Let Me Live recorded in 1995. These are premiere song versions, which have been arranged and orchestrated especially for the concert tour by Jan Niedźwiecki, the leader of Alla Vienna Orchestra, and a double bass player with the Łódź Philharmonic. The  performance is accompanied by mood lighting and classical sound.

The second part turns the concert into an authentic rock show in the typical Queen style. The band's greatest hits are performed with rock arrangements: an electric bass guitar instead of a double bass, with dynamic sound and light effects with changing colours… Bohemian Rhapsody is performed entirely live – a unique and unforgettable experience as even during original concerts by Queen the opera parts of the song were played back from a recording. Following this piece, in the show’s grand finale… Freddie Mercury himself appears on the stage (played by Mariusz Ostrowski, an actor from S. Jaracz Theatre in Łódź, or  Sebastian Machalski, an actor from the Capitol Theatre in Wrocław and the Rampa Theatre in Warsaw)  to perform We Will Rock You,  We Are The Champions , I Want To Break Free and Another One Bites The Dust.

The concert will take place in the ICE Krakow Congress Centre, 17 Marii Konopnickiej Street, starting at 7 pm.
