3 days of the conference, over 50 educational sessions, 350 professionals from the meetings industry in 27 countries – these are the basic facts about the EMEC 2015 (European Meetings & Events Conference) conference that was held in the ICE Kraków Congress Centre from the 1st till the 3rd of February. However, it is not impossible to present the most important statistical data – the number of established business contacts!
On the occasion of this year’s EMEC 2015 conference, which was held in the ICE Kraków Congress Centre, the capital of Malopolska was visited by representatives of the meetings industry from around the world. The mission statement of this edition of the event ('When we meet, we change the world’) corresponds with the strategy of development of business tourism being implemented by the city.
‘For 3 days of the EMEC 2015 conference, the ICE Kraków Congress Centre was one of the most important places on the global map of the meetings industry. This event allowed us to present the full potential of the facility to guests from around the world. Lectures, training sessions, networking meetings and artistic programs in the modern interiors of the Congress Centre – and all of this took place in the wonderful atmosphere of historical Krakow,’ assures Izabela Helbin, Director of the Krakow Festival Office – the operator of ICE Kraków. ‘I’m sure that the representatives of the meetings industry who arrived in Krakow leave our city with the conviction that we are able to face the challenge of the most prestigious and demanding congresses and conferences,' argues Helbin.
During training sessions, participants could develop their planning, consultancy, leadership and management skills. An important topic that often recurred in lecturers’ speeches was the digitisation of the meetings industry. Participants in lectures could ask questions to lecturers in real time via applications for smartphones, and the entire conference could be watched on the Internet from any corner of the world. Special guests of EMEC 2015 were: Mike Walsh – a world-famous speaker and visionary, the owner of an agency engaged in the creation of a business development concept adequate to the 21st century, and Dr Alan Watkins – a neurosurgeon and an expert in the field of leadership and the capacity of the human organism.
