Wodecki Twist Festival

The “Tribute to Zbigniew Wodecki” Grand Gala with Polish music stars, Mitch&Mitch and their guests, twist for children and numerous surprises – the 1st Wodecki Twist Festival opens in Krakow on 8 June. This two-day event will attract several hundreds of performers!

A long-awaited concert dedicated to the late Zbigniew Wodecki will open the Festival on 8 June at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre. Eminent Polish artists, i.a. faithful friends of Zbyszek, who passed away in May 2017, will participate in the ceremonious gala. They will give the gala performance twice each day. The following artists will perform at the “Tribute to Zbigniew Wodecki”: Kayah, Leszek Możdżer, Grzegorz Turnau, Alicja Majewska, Włodzimierz Korcz, Halina Frąckowiak, Hanna Banaszak, Zdzisława Sośnicka, Beata Rybotycka, Ewa Uryga, Gaba Kulka, Kuba Badach, Andrzej Sikorowski, Adam Bałdych, Mariusz Patyra, Jacek Wójcicki, Sławek Uniatowski and many other singers and musicians.

The organisers are still preparing surprises in the festival concert and event line-up!

Details coming soon!

The underlying concept of the concert is to bring performers closer to both Wodecki’s music and Wodecki himself. Unique archival materials will be used during the event. Tomasz Szymuś will be responsible for the event’s musical framework.

The gala programme involves the most beautiful duets, greatest hits from Wodecki’s vast repertoire, and some musical surprises – in revamped, exquisite musical arrangements prepared especially for this event. Fans from all over Poland are waiting for this concert, and the entire festival as well.

Additional attractions of the two-day festival include also numerous memories and conversations with Zbyszek’s close friends and event participants, which will be held at Krakow’s Main Market Square. We will meet at one of Wodecki’s favourite places where he would arrange his own meetings – the “Loża” Actor Club. Join us on 8 and 9 June!

We will dedicate 9 June to one of Zbigniew Wodecki’s greatest loves: Krakow and his friendship with this city. - Throughout his life, Zbigniew Wodecki was closely bound with Krakow. This festival will recall this unique musician and singer, underlined Krakow’s President, Professor Jacek Majchrowski.

Most events held on 9 June are free of charge!

Every year, Zbigniew travelled hundreds of thousands of kilometres to reach his fans in larger and smaller Polish cities. He always returned to his beloved Krakow. The festival’s second day, the WODECKI TWIST FESTIVAL, emphasises this special relationship.

The Mitch&Mitch-supervised mini concert cycle looks to be refreshing and surprising. Zbigniew Wodecki invited the alternative Mitch&Mitch group to go back to his 1976 album material. Together, they recorded the “1976: A Space Odyssey” album, which was a dazzling success. Mitch&Mitch artists invited many Polish and international musicians to the legendary Forum Przestrzenie. They will play both indoors and outdoors! A special festival section is dedicated to youngest music fans. Children are invited to join us on 9 June at the Krakow Kino pod Baranami. We will try our hand at singing, compete for great prizes and, of course, watch fairy tales. Late in the evening and at night, we will round off the first WODECKI TWIST FESTIVAL with a crazy jam session with the best Krakow musicians and festival guests at the Forum Przestrzenie.

We hope to play till dawn!
